BOOKING APP
Company: The Force Coach / Project Name: Online Appointment Scheduling / Date: 04/2021 - 06/2021
The Product
The Force Coach is a company formed by a personal trainer specializing in fit boxing, who comes to your home, trains you outdoors, or has signed agreements with companies to give classes to their employees.
The Problem
The user does not want to waste time booking a class, the current method is to schedule weekly training appointments by phone or message when there are free slots. The user wants to be always organized in the long term and have all the information in one place.
The Goal
Create a sports app to promote training/coaching services and include a calendar where you can schedule an appointment with the personal trainer, to improve organization, save time and facilitate an easier user experience.
UNDERSTANDING THE USER
User Research
We did a written survey of the various customers who wanted to participate, and most of them agreed that an appointment scheduling tool would help them. The rest were neutral. And not a single participant objected.
Pain Points
These are some of the conclusions we have drawn from the survey conducted and we also did a competitive audit report.
Persona
We created a few UX personas to represent the target users, such as María García. Problem statement: Maria is a working and single mother, who needs to organize her workouts because she has limited time to spare.
User Journey Map
In the case of a personal training class booking app the user journey map will illustrate the steps a typical user takes to achieve their goal of booking and attending a personal training class. The user journey map helps to understand Maria's experience with the app and identifies pain points or opportunities for improvement at each stage.
STARTING THE DESIGN
Wireframes and Lo-Fi
I have focused the development on the appointment booking with the personal trainer, as it is the most complex process. Allows a clearer view of the process. The main function is to make reservations, so we put it as the first most prominent button.
Usability Study
We did a Moderated Usability Study with 7 participants, aged between 18 - 45, who have an interest or experience in fitness and these were the findings.
REFINING THE DESIGN
Mockup and High-fidelity prototype
The final prototype of the application includes the following options:
Account creation or login to book an appointment.
The home screen displays featured personal training classes, promotions/pricing, and tips.
Users can easily browse a complete list of available personal training classes with various filtering options.
Filters based on date, time, year (if late in the year), class type (individual or group), and exercise, ensure a personalized class search experience.
The simple booking process allows users to secure their spots in the classes of their choice with just a few taps.
Upon successful booking, users receive a confirmation screen with all essential class details.
